Libya: New Interior Minister Takes Office

Tripoli– In a ceremony held on Thursday, the new Libyan Minister of Interior Colonel Mohamed Al-Sheikh has officially taken office from the outgoing Ashour Shuwail who submitted resignation earlier.

In as speech at the ceremony which was held at the Interior Ministry’s headquarters, Shuwail congratulated Al-Sheikh for the new post and said he was confident that this patriotic man would carry out his duties with the aim of establishing security and stability.

Sheikh faces the tough task of trying to meet the urgent demands to bring an end to the armed groups in the country by activating an able police force that could do the job.

Sheikh said at the ceremony that he will continue the efforts of his predecessor of strengthening the security apparatus and raise the moral, efficiency and material needs of the police force.

“The country relies on the police force for establishing security and stability which is the prerequisite of the reconstruction and development of Libya,” Al-Sheikh said
.
To what extent the new Interior Minister will succeed time will tell.

The change of guard ceremony was attended by heads of various departments at the ministry.
