UN calls for new Libya dialogue

The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) on Wednesday (December 3rd) called for parties in the Libyan crisis to begin a new political dialogue. The talks would open on December 9th.

In related news, Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi said his country would play its part in an international project to restore peace and security in Libya, AFP reported.

“We must now find intelligent solutions that will end this situation,” Renzi said Tuesday in Algiers.

Italy “is the only European country whose embassy in Tripoli is still open”, he added.

The Italian premier was in Algeria for an official visit.
