According to Tunisia’s interior ministry ISIS in Libya has been preparing training camps near Tunisia’s borders.
Walid al-Loukini, an advisor to the interior minister, tells the London based al-Hayat newspaper, that ISIS in Libya “has the same potential possessed by the group in Syria and Iraq”, adding that ISIS fighters are proficient in guerrilla warfare.
al-Loukini added “Tunisian security and military units have the necessary preparedness to confront the growing threat posed on Tunisia”.
The Tunisian prime minister, Habib Essid, warned earlier that ISIS has been approaching the southern borders of his country, calling on the international community “to confront the threat of terrorism, which threatens the whole region”.
