Le Drian calls Haftar to respect the peace operation

The French Foreign Minister, Jean-Yves Le Drian, met with the commander of the Dignity Operation, General Khalifa Haftar, in Benghazi, on Thursday, calling him to respect the peace operation that supervised by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) to achieve the stability in Libya.

Le Drian told Haftar that there is no alternative to the UN action plan, adding that “you should help your country.”

It is worth mentioning that this is the second visit of Le Drian to Haftar in Benghazi, the last time was in September.

In the same context, Le Drian met even the head of the Presidential Council (PC), Fayez Al-Sarraj, in Tripoli. Le Drian confirmed to Al-Sarraj his country’s support to hold the general elections in Libya.
