Libyan human rights group calls for new Deterrence Agency formation decision to be revoked

Human Rights Solidarity has expressed their concern regarding the decision of the Presidential Council to form the Deterrence Agency for Combat Organized Crime and Terrorism.

The human rights group explained in a statement on Tuesday that the decision allowed members of the new deterrence force to spy and wiretap communications and social networks without the need to seek permission of the judiciary.

The statement called on civil society organizations and activists to demand the cancellation of the decision and file a lawsuit against it to bring it before the Administrative Court in case the decision is not invalidated.
