More than 100 Nigerian children have been kidnapped in Libya over the past four months, the official in charge of the anti-human trafficking file in Nigeria has said.
“The children were promised that they would be sent to Libya but had no idea where they were being taken,” Godwin Obaseki told the News Agency of Nigeria, adding that from Libya they expected to travel to Europe.
The coordinator called on families and children to be aware of human traffickers and to inform the police of anyone who promises to send them to Europe because many are being abandoned in Libya.
He explained that thousands of people have been killed as a result of this illegal activity.
