The Interior Minister of the Government of National Accord (GNA), Abdul-Salam Ashour, said that Mitiga Airport would be handed over to another security force affiliated with the ministry.
Ashour stated that this decision comes within the new security arrangement in Tripoli.
Earlier than that, the head of the Presidential Council (PC) of the GNA, Fayez Al-Sarraj, had decided to form a new security force to secure the airport. He had ordered the Interior Ministry to provide the needed protection for the airport.
It is essential mentioning that the airport was attacked many times, the last attack was last week when it was targeted by armed groups using rockets.
