Some of Libya’s parliament members call for interrogating Haftar

Several members of the House of Representatives (HoR) called in a session on Monday for interrogating the commander of the self-styled army Khalifa Haftar, citing deteriorated security in areas under his control, adding that he is the only one who has information about what is happening in southern Libya.

The HoR member Siham Sergiwa called for summoning Haftar to the HoR headquarters, adding that if he rejected to come to interrogation, he would be in an embarrassing position in front of all Libyans and the international community.

She also proposed forming a joint force from Dignity Operation and Al-Bunyan Al-Marsous to secure southern Libya plus setting up patrols in east and west Libya, urging for the unity of military institutions.

“Who brought the Chadian armed groups to southern Libya? Sure some Libyans did it to use them against their opponents.” Sergiwa added, not mentioning names.

Southern Libya has been witnessing security violations and kidnaps by Chadian militias due to lack of security measures.

4 Libyan fighters were killed and 12 others wounded in clashes against Chadian rebels in Umm Al-Aranib town, southwestern Libya, on Sunday.

The Mayor of the Municipality of Al-Sharqiyah in the south-west of Libya, Amhamed Al-Arabi, has urged the authorities to intervene and put an end to the Chadian opposition gangs that are violating the south region.
