The Head of the Presidential Council Fayez Al-Sirraj met in Tripoli with the UN envoy to Libya Ghassan Salame on Thursday and discussed the ongoing security challenges in the capital.
The media office of Al-Sirraj said the latter told Salame that there can be no ceasefire in Tripoli until the attacking forces of Khalifa Haftar are defeated or retreated to their previous positions.
He also told Salame that the ones who are committing war crimes in the attack on Tripoli must be held accountable locally and internationally.
Meanwhile, Salame rejected attacks on civilians and state institutions in Tripoli, saying they are violations of International Humanitarian Law.
He added that the international community realizes that there is no military solution to the crisis in Libya.
