Libya’s Zintan calls for national reconciliation and rejects Tripoli offensive

The elders and dignitaries of Zintan in Libya have voiced rejection to the attack led by Khalifa Haftar on Tripoli, saying they support the Government of National Accord (GNA) and its Burkan Al-Ghadab Operation.

The Zintan statement added that the military and totalitarian rule is rejected, calling on the eastern elders to come and sit for dialogue to reach a way out of the conflict, provided that Haftar’s forces retreat to their previous positions as before April 04.

The statement also acknowledged that Haftar’s attack on Tripoli is a threat to the civilian state and the principles of February 17 revolution, which Libyans made by sacrificing their dearest.

Haftar has been launching an attack on Tripoli since April 04 in an attempt to seize the capital and power by military operations.

Over 450 people have been killed and over 2400 injured with about 75.000 displaced from their houses since the fighting began in Tripoli.
