Libya’s Interior Ministry denies that Turkish military officers are operating on Libyan soil

The Libyan Interior Ministry has denied “rumors” of the presence of Turkish military officers in Libya in areas under the Presidential Council’s government command.

The Interior Ministry said in a statement on Saturday that these rumors are made as part of the propaganda campaigns against the Libyan Army, which is doing its best to defend Tripoli and democracy in the entire country.

“We will keep defending Libyans and protecting all borders with the region in direct confrontation with any threats.” The statement reads.

It adds that the ministry will take all needed measures to secure all foreigners, including the Turkish nationals working in Libyan companies and institutions, denouncing the “reckless” statements of Haftar’s forces spokesman Ahmed Al-Mismari.

Al-Mismari said in a presser on Friday that Haftar’s forces lost Gharyan and retreated in southern Tripoli because they were fighting against Turkish soldiers, accusing Turkey of intervening in Libya’s internal affairs and backing up the forces under Presidential Council’s command.

He that their forces would target airplanes, vessels, and nationals of Turkey.
