A US drone brought down over the Libyan capital last week was shot down by accident, a Libyan official said. The US military said it lost contact with the unmanned aerial vehicle while it was conducting a security assessment and monitoring activity over Tripoli.

Sudanese militias who make up part of the Sudan Liberation Front headed to Libya in support for the forces of Brigadier General Khalifa Haftar, Arabi21 reported yesterday.

The Defence Ministry has said that statements of the spokesman for “Haftar’s militias” regarding the imposition of an air embargo, were to gain more time and raise the spirit of his “defeated” forces.

The spokesman for Khalifa Haftar’s forces, Ahmed Al-Mismari, said any results coming out of Berlin conference on Libya will be a waste of time, adding that the solution to the crisis is military, not a political one.

Libya’s UN-recognized Government of National Accord (GNA) on Sunday warned east Libyan forces against imposing a “no-fly zone” over western Libya, as reproted by Anadolu Agency. 

Libya‘s renegade military commander Khalifa Haftar has declared a “no-fly zone” in the skies over the capital, Tripoli, drawing a warning from the country’s internationally-recognised government.

The US President Donald Trump administration officials have had multiple meetings with former Libyan UAE ambassador, Aref Al-Nayed, who is aligned with Khalifa Haftar, hinting that the American administration may be rethinking its Libya policy, according to Defense One website.

The US military said on Friday it lost an unmanned drone aircraft over the Libyan capital, Tripoli, where the internationally recognised government of Prime Minister Fayyez Sarraj has been battling the forces of rogue General Khalifa Haftar for months.

Al-Monitor website has revealed that the US Congress is mulling sanctions against Moscow for deploying “Wagner” Russian forces in Libya to support Haftar.

The Presidential Council of the Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA) called on the UN Security Council, on Tuesday, to take a “firm and deterrent stance” against Khalifa Haftar, following the latest aerial bombing launched by the latter’s forces on the cities of Tripoli and Misrata, causing casualties.
