RSF calls for Eastern Libya media ban on 11 TV channels to be lifted

International NGO, Reporters Without Borders (RSF), yesteday called on the Libyan Interim Government based in Eastern Libya, to explain the order it has issued to municipal authorities not to cooperate with 11 TV channels. This ban must be lifted in order to respect the public’s right to information, RSF said.

The Committee to Protect Journalists said Thursday it was gravely concerned about the safety of Mohamed Al-Qarij and Mohamed Al-Shibani, Libyan journalists working for Libya Alahrar TV Channel, who disappeared on May 02 covering fighting in southern Tripoli.

Haftar’s general command to punish anti-Tripoli-attack activists

Khalifa Haftar’s Dignity Operation command has issued a statement threatening to punish all journalists, media figures, activists and political analysts who oppose its offensive against Tripoli, describing them as “inciting hate and crime against the army forces and supporting terrorism.”
