Sea rescue group witnesses Libyan authorities shoot at a crowded boat to stop it from crossing the Mediterranean Sea to Europe.

Differences have arisen between delegates at the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) meeting in Geneva over the possibility of Khalifa Haftar standing as a candidate in December’s presidential election in the North African country, Arabi21 has reported.

Following violence towards refugees and migrants held in two detention centres in the Libyan capital Tripoli, Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders-MSF) announced on Tuesday that it will temporarily suspend its activities in Mabani and Abu Salim detention centres.

After a conference on Libya’s political future ended without a concrete plan for the withdrawal of foreign forces, a top US diplomat expressed optimism but said Washington is “realistic” about what can be achieved ahead of elections later this year.
