Libyan government forces destroyed an operations room belonging to a Russian mercenary group south of Tripoli on Tuesday night, a military spokesman said.

Libya on Tuesday urged the UN Security Council to take a stand against rocket attacks by warlord Khalifa Haftar’s forces that struck dangerously close to the Turkish and Italian foreign missions in Tripoli. 

Four Libyan fighters loyal to the UN-recognised Government of National Accord (GNA) were killed in a UAE drone strike south of the city of Misrata on Monday night, a GNA military spokesman said.

In late December, just weeks after signing a military cooperation agreement with Libya’s internationally recognised government, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan paid an unexpected visit to Tunisia.

Haftar militias targeted a residential neighborhood in the Salah Al-Din area on Sunday, with rocket-propelled grenades, killing one woman and wounding three other members of her direct family.

The Libyan Army struck forces loyal to  Khalifa Haftar in Al-Watiya airbase, military sources said on Monday. 

Clashes continued between Libyan government forces and the militias of retired Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar yesterday south of the capital Tripoli.

The Libyan Presidential Council has mourned the Acting Chief of Intelligence Apparatus Major General Abdulkader Al-Tuhami, saying he died Saturday of a heart attack.

Libya’s UN-supported government launched a counterattack on Sunday against a strategic military base used by renegade commander Khalifa Haftar to pound the capital Tripoli with rocket fire.

Turkey has warned that it will reliate against forces loyal to rogue Libyan General Khalifa Haftar if attacks on its interests in the country continue.
