The forces of the Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA) announced today that Emirati drones, backing the militias of retired Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, targeted a post office in Al-Washka area in the vicinity of Sirte.

Renewed fighting in Libya, where both sides rely on drone support from foreign backers, has fueled a battle for air supremacy that augurs further escalation despite the coronavirus outbreak in the country. It also raises the prospect of Turkey sending more military aid to its allies.

Heavy clashes erupted Sunday in southern Tripoli between the Libyan Army under the command of the Government of National Accord and Khalifa Haftar’s forces as the former advanced on different frontlines pushing Haftar’s fighters away amid their shortage of ammunition and supplies.
