Navy spokesman: Operation Sophia is propaganda; Italy wants to have more time to continue stealing Libya’s resources and smuggling its fuel

The spokesman of the Libyan Navy, Brigadier Ayoub Qasim, has lashed out at EU’s Operation Sophia, saying it’s propaganda for political gains. In an interview with the Libya Observer on Sunday 21, Qasim has also accused the EU countries of taking part in stealing Libya’s marine resources.

EU and Libyan Coastguard Sign Memorandum to Train Libyan Coastguards and Navy

On Tuesday, the European Union signed a memorandum to train Libyan Coastguards. Abdallah Toumia, Commander of the Libyan Coastguard and Port Security, met with with Enrico Credendino, the EU’s Operation Sophia Commander, to sign the memorandum in Rome at the headquarters for Operation Sophia.

Libya conflict keeps 279,000 children out of school: UN

The United Nations warned on Monday that the Libyan conflict was preventing some 279,000 children from attending school across the war-torn country. “Recently released data from Libya’s Ministry of Education paints an alarming picture of education access,” the UN’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said.
